Why we're here
An insurance company asked for this inspection.
When an insurance company writes or renews a policy on a property, it often sends an independent inspector to document it. Insurers hire inspection firms like Atlas Crest to do that work. The insurance company uses our report to confirm what it is insuring: the size and condition of the building, the roof, and features like pools and sheds.
It's routine, and it's already paid for. There is never a charge to the property owner.
What happens
What the inspector does.

Confirms the address.
A photo of the front of the property and the house number ties the report to the right place.
- 02
Photographs the outside.
The front, sides, back, and roof, plus detached garages, sheds, pools, and other structures. Roof photos are taken from the ground, often with a camera on a pole.
- 03
Measures, if the insurer asked.
Some inspections include measuring the outside of the building to draw a simple sketch and confirm its square footage.
- 04
Asks a few questions, if you're home.
For example, how old the roof is or what has been updated. For most outside-only inspections, you don't need to be home.
- 05
Goes inside only by appointment.
If the insurance company needs an interior inspection, we schedule a time with you first.
Most visits take 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the property and whether it needs to be measured.
What we never do
An Atlas Crest inspector will never:
- Ask you for money. The insurance company pays for the inspection.
- Ask for your Social Security number or your bank or card details.
- Go inside without an appointment and your permission, or force a locked gate.
- Climb onto your roof. Roof photos are taken from the ground.
- Sell you anything or recommend a contractor.
- Decide your coverage or your price. Only your insurance company does that.
